Bryan Zivich – Designer
Origins of a Digital Hero: Bryan has had a passion for art as long as he can remember. A Cleveland, OH native, Bryan was brought up on a steady diet of classic rock and colored pencils as he prepared to take on the world one stick figure sketch at a time. When he faced the decision of what college to attend, multiple options were written on a dartboard, and a blindfold was introduced to “keep it real.” He enrolled at the University of Cincinnati’s college of Design Art Architecture and Planning (DAAP) to study Industrial Design, and he graduated seven years later with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Design in the spring of 2011.
Cooperative Connection: Through the University’s Professional Practice program, Bryan had the opportunity to first begin working at HyperDrive in the winter of 2007 as “just a co-op.” For the next 3 years he alternated quarters between HyperDrive and school, and upon his graduation he fulfilled the prophecy and was hired on as a full-time designer.
Pushing Pixels and Boundaries: Bryan has a skill set in user experience and user-interface design, although the average person just thinks he’s “really good at Photoshop.” Bryan is also really good at Photoshop… although it really all derives from his passion for critical thinking and problem solving. His formal training in design theory drives him to analyze situations and craft accessible, integrated, and collaborative solutions.
If You Are Still Reading This: Bryan is also enjoys disc golfing, head jamming, and contemplating various aspects of the universe. He spent 3 years designing custom t-shirt graphics, and is unofficially one of the top FPS gamers in the world. He is an eternal optimist who embraces big ideas. Bryan recognizes the technological acceleration of his profession, and acknowledges that while there is always something new to learn, there is something way more exciting waiting to be discovered.
